Important information

Annual awards

The Property Institute and its Professional Communities reserve the right to postpone or cancel any awards in any year.

Only one award can be made each year and any award need not be made in any year in which the awarding panel considers that no nominee has reached the desired standard.

Awards presentation

The presentation of the awards will be made at the Property Institute National Property Conference at the Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, Christchurch, 7-9 June 2023. Finalists and award winners are encouraged to attend the National Property Conference at their own expense.

Awarding Panel

Nominations will be judged by an Awarding Panel and the decision of the Awarding Panel is final.

Personal information and marketing consent

By making a nomination, nominees consent to their personal details being used for the purpose of considering their entry. The details provided on the nomination form, including the nominees photograph, may be used for promotional purposes and a list of award winners will be published across a variety of Property Institute communication channels.

Intellectual property

By making a nomination, nominees confirm that there is no infringement of any intellectual property right (IP). Individuals being nominated must declare that ownership of any IP associated with the nomination is theirs alone, or if the IP is shared with others, the consent of those other joint holders of the IP has been obtained and is acknowledged as part of the nomination. When an individual is being nominated by others without their knowledge, the nominator must undertake due diligence to be as certain as possible that there are no contestable IP matters involved. If there is doubt, it is better that the nomination is made with the consent of the individual being nominated. The Property Institute, in making any award, will consider that any intellectual property rights rest with the nominee and will not undertake any investigation itself or be held responsible for any breach of IP.

Nomination Documents

Nominations and supporting documents will not be returned and, once nominations are lodged, nominees will not be permitted to make alterations to their award submission after the closing date. The Property Institute may seek further information from nominees as deemed necessary.

NZIV Awards

Nominations for the Iain Gribble Memorial Award and the John M Harcourt Memorial Award must come from the NZIV branch network. Any nominations received will be forwarded to the relevant branch, however, the branch has full discretion as to whether to take a nomination forward. Submitting a nomination does not guarantee that the branch will present it to the NZIV Council for consideration and the Council can bestow the awards upon any NZIV member and not necessarily a member nominated by the branches.
